Modern Cycling Journal

Editorial policy

Modern Cycling Journal aims to make cycling topics clear, useful and proportionate. We distinguish general explanation from advice that depends on a rider's particular bicycle, circumstances or local requirements.

Accuracy and limits

We check claims against suitable information before publication and write with care about what a general article can establish. Where details may vary by bicycle, component, place or circumstance, we say so rather than imply one answer fits every reader. Readers can contact us with a correction or a request for clarification.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are kept distinct from commercial arrangements. Payment or another material relationship does not buy a favourable editorial conclusion. Sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can tell when a commercial relationship is involved.

Corrections and illustrations

When we find a substantive error, we correct the affected text and make the change clear where appropriate. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when that is the case, we identify them as AI-generated. Illustrations are not evidence for factual claims.
